The land of roses , Bulgaria, is a small country of ancient culture, scenic beauty, friendly people, hospitality and warmth. Bulgaria is situated in south-eastern Europe. The eastern Bulgarian coast is washed by the Black Sea. 380 km marvellous stretch of beaches, calm and safe sea, clear water and healthy air, fine golden sand and natural dunes, mineral water springs, blue flag winning resorts, holiday villages and campsites.

| BOROVETS |

The oldest Bulgarian resort, Borovets, is hidden among the aromatic pine woods covering the northern slopes of Mount Musala at an altitude of 1300 m above the sea level in Rila mountains, 12 km south of Samokov and 72 km of Sofia. Borovets offers perfect conditions for ski-sports - ski for debutantes and masters - Alpine and Nordic disciplines, cross-country skiing, ski-jumps, biathlon, heli-ski, snowboard, motor sledges, etc. |
The resort has hosted twice a stage of the World Cup ski alpine discipline. Here the ski season lasts from November till May, the average January temperature being about minus 4°C. The ski runs of various difficulty are suitable for everyone, be they beginners, intermediate, advanced or expert skiers with a total length for Alpine skiing of 40 km. The slopes and runs are maintained in perfect condition and are designated with international markings and multilingual signs. A snow machine is also available. The resort has modern ski equipment for the tourists with a dense network of ski chair lifts and ski tows - 6, 4 and 1-seat lifts, 10 ski tows. |
One of the best ski schools in Europe is located in Borovets. It guarantees the training of alpine ski disciplines in 5 specialized grades for individuals and groups. Those, who have completed the training course (from 6 to 12 days, 4 hours a day), are given a special certificate. The resort has equipment for artificial snow. |

BANSKO |

The town of Bansko is situated at the Glazne river at the northeastern bottom of the Pirin Mountains, 160 km south of Sofia, 60 km southeast of Blagoevgrad. Bansko is one of the biggest mountain resorts in Bulgaria with a long winter to take advantage of its modern, well developed skiing and sport facilities. Bansko has a very attractive combination of wonderful nature and the romantic atmosphere of the old town, popular for the number of cultural monuments and for its rich icon collection of the local Zograv (icon painting) School. |
The district is famous for its excellent cuisine, the variety of colourful taverns and rich authentic folklore.
The skiing conditions in Bansko are excellent. The Pirin mountain has a predominately Alpine character with three peaks towering above 2900 m. However the slopes offer runs and tracks for all types of skiers, from novice to the experts, while the ski runs are maintained in excellent condition. It is also the main starting point for hiking in the UNESCO protected Pirin National Park-the largest in Bulgaria where the most interesting tree species such as the black fir can be found. |
The winter here lasts from December till May, the average January temperature being minus 2°C with heavy snowfalls providing a constant winter snow cover up to 2 m thick. The skiing conditions in Bansko are excellent. The new 7 km cabin lift from Bansko to the ski-runs could care up to 2400 persons per hour. The common length of the ski runs is over 45 km. During the season the resort will be suited with equipment for artificial snow, which could cover runs up to 12 km. Having been a birth place to many national intellectuals and a witness of dramatic history during the centuries, Bansko is of special architectural and cultural value. There are several landmarks which are of great interest: Sveta Troitsa (The Holy Trinity) Church, the Monument of Paissii Hilendarski, the Neofit Rilski House Museum. |

PAMPOROVO |

Pamporovo is the sunniest winter resort in Bulgaria - here the winter is soft, but with a lot of snow, and the number of the sunny days during the season from December to May comes up to 120 days. The resort is set in the south of the Rhodopes Mountain where, according to the legend, Orpheus, the mythical singer, had lived. Pamporovo has international popularity; located at an altitude of 1620 m above the sea level, 85 km from Plovdiv city and 250 km from Sofia among evergreen spruce forests, picturesque meadows, strange rock formations and beautiful mountain peaks. |
Due to the Mediterranean influence the climate is mild with bracing air and the good snow-cover provides excellent skiing conditions from mid-December to mid-April.The average January temperature is about 3°C. The climate is exclusively healthy and it is no miracle that most of the centenarians in Bulgaria are found in this district. Pamporovo offers wonderful skiing opportunities, luxury comfort in high-class hotels of an original Rhodopa style, various entertainment and varied night-time opportunities. The TV tower on Mount Snezhanka, starting point of many of the ski runs, has a cafe and an observation gallery giving a marvelous view of the Rhodope mountains and makes an important landmark for hikers. |
The hotels and restaurants lure with the authentic for this region hospitality and superb traditional Rhodope dishes. The resort is a ski-centre for all categories of skiers. It has excellent ski runs even including a racing ski run for giant slalom, as well as first class built-up ski lift system. The gentle profile of the mountain with its rounded slopes and summits make Pamporovo particularly suitable for beginners and intermediate skiers, although the difficult ski runs will test the mettle of any expert. There is a ski-school of international category too, with more than 100 highly qualified instructors. Classes are in 5 difficulty levels, from A to E, and can be taken individually or in groups. Their duration is between 3 and 12 days, 2 or 4 hours daily. All course graduates receive ski certificates. |

VITOSHA MOUNTAIN |

A wooded mass of granite 19km long by 17 km wide, Mount Vitosha, whose foothills begin some 7 km from the centre of the Bulgarian capital, is very much a part of the city and is the source of its pure water and fresh breezes. Vitosha is the cradle of hiking tourism in Bulgaria and every year thousands of hikers climb its highest peak, Cherni Vrah (2290m). |
It is a typical dome-like mountain, which northern slopes descend steeply into the Sofia plain and where the concentration of facilities is at its best - two cabin lift lines, numerous cable-ways, catering facilities, mountain shelters and developed transportation network. There are two main tourist centers - Aleko, one of Bulgaria's biggest ski resorts, and Zlatnite Mostove (The Golden Bridges), an impressive natural phenomenon in the form of piles of huge rounded granite stones in the river valleys. |
